Lime And Moovit Announce Global Micromobility Partnership

Shared electric vehicle company Lime and urban mobility service provider Moovit announced a global partnership on Tuesday (July 27) that will integrate Lime’s fleet of electric scooters, bikes and mopeds into the Moovit app in 117 cities across 20 countries, including the U.S., South Africa and parts of Europe and Australia. The new cities will be added next week, with 40 more expected to join the lineup soon.

This partnership, which also includes all three of Lime’s electric vehicle options, is the biggest-ever integration of micromobility services in terms of the number of cities.

The integration between Lime and Moovit “will encourage riders toward car-free, multi-modal trips by enabling Moovit users to incorporate Lime scooters, bikes or mopeds as part of their journey,” according to the joint announcement.

The Moovit app will allow users to see where a Lime vehicle is available, how long it will take to walk there, an approximate cost of the trip and the battery range that remains, the press release said.

“This partnership signifies that mobility companies recognize the need to collaborate together to offer riders more convenient modes of public and shared transportation as they return,” said Moovit Co-founder and CEO Nir Erez in the joint announcement. “From Buenos Aires to Berlin, we are excited to partner with Lime and offer riders more ways of getting around town that can easily combine with public transit,” he added.

Lime’s partnership with Moovit is “a major step toward our goal of expanding access to shared, affordable and carbon-free transportation to more users around the world,” said Lime CEO Wayne Ting in the announcement.

Lime recently launched a new monthly subscription service called Lime Prime, which will reduce ride fees and waive unlock fees for Lime bike, scooter or moped rides. Lime Prime members will have access to reliability features, including the ability for riders to reserve Lime vehicles for up to 30 minutes, as opposed to 10 minutes for standard users. The company also promised to plant a tree for every new rider who signs up for a paid Lime Prime membership through the middle of July.

Lime has also recently begun offering “app-less” services, letting users rent scooters and bikes without downloading the app and instead allowing them to use Apple Pay or Google Pay.
