Macy’s Goes On-Demand For Beauty Supplies

Macy’s seems to be on something of a “say yes to everything” kick in 2016 as it tries to reset its business model after what has been a highly chaotic year for the struggling department store retailer.

Its latest experiment with out-of-the-box thinking is in its beauty offerings. Going forward, Macy’s will be giving some of its customers the ability to book at-home beauty and treatment services. To carry this offering off, Macy’s is partnering with beGlammed, the Uber of beauty (as it has been described) that offers its customers hair and makeup services on-demand at the tap of an app.

The partnership between the two firms will leverage beGlammed’s network of more than 1,200 stylists in 22 U.S. markets. Going forward, Macy’s customers that want to, well, be glammed will be able to book any number of beauty services through Macy’s site through a specialized beGlammed landing page. Prices will range from $25 to $185.

The new pair-up will be launching in beGlammed’s current U.S. markets, which include Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, San Diego, Orlando, Atlanta and Boston, but the idea is to push the service out even further with the new support from Macy’s.

“Macy’s is a top beauty destination for customers across America, and our new partnership with beGlammed will now provide our customers easy access to on-demand, in-home beauty services and consultations,” said Shawn Outler, Macy’s senior VP of leased businesses. “As we continue to evolve with today’s consumer, we know that she is asking for quick beauty solutions delivered right to her door for everything from a big social event to a fun Friday night out with the girls.”

The two companies will promote their partnership through multiple channels, including a dedicated beGlammed landing page, dedicated emails with exclusive offerings, in-store promotions, as well as tailored promotional events, to help make consumers more aware of the service.
