ACI, JP Morgan Team To Provide Payments Acceptance For European Merchants

Real-time digital payment software and solutions provider ACI Worldwide has teamed with J.P. Morgan to let merchants in select nations in Europe provide in-store payment acceptance, according to a Tuesday (May 25) announcement.

With the relationship between the two firms, merchants will be able to access a service that brings together J.P. Morgan’s European acquiring platform and the ACI Omni-Commerce solution to offer in-store payment acceptance, according to the announcement.

Cloud-based ACI Omni-Commerce serves as a point-to-point encryption (P2PE)-validated payments platform that equips merchants with a payment experience than spans every channel — from in-store to mobile and online, according to the announcement.

“ACI’s Omni-Commerce service simplifies merchants’ needs to serve customers in their modern omni-commerce buying journeys, taking payments in-store and from many digital touchpoints,” ACI Worldwide Vice President Andrew Quartermaine said in the announcement.

Quartermaine said that the company looks forward “to supporting J.P. Morgan in expanding its merchant payment capabilities.”

For its part, J.P. Morgan has been rated as the leading acquirer of web transactions in Europe for the sixth straight year, according to the announcement.

“We are keen to be in a position to support merchants as they navigate the post-lockdown era after a significantly challenging period of time,” J.P. Morgan Head of Product for EMEA Merchant Services Basil Bailey said in the announcement. “ACI’s Omni-Commerce solution will play a key role helping us to do that.”

The news comes as ACI Worldwide reported as part of its first quarter 2021 financial results that recurring revenue climbed by 1 percent from the first quarter of 2020 to $248 million.

ACI Worldwide President and CEO Odilon Almeida said in the company’s earnings announcement that “new contract signings, revenue and adjusted EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization] were above our expectations in the quarter” even amid “significant and expected pandemic-related headwinds.”

ACI Worldwide’s customers harness the company’s offerings to allow for omnicommerce payments, handle and control digital payments, present and handle bill payments and control fraud and risk.
