Walmart Adds To Beverage Collection With Rollout Of Winemakers Selection Reserve

Walmart is adding to its Winemakers Selection label by rolling out the Winemakers Selection Reserve Series, according to a Monday (July 19) post.

The retailer’s new Reserve Series collection will showcase five new premium wine varietals from “some of the world’s prominent growing regions” with a $10 per bottle suggested retail price. New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Californian Cabernet Sauvignon, French Rosé, Italian Pinot Grigio and Argentinian Malbec are among the varietals, according to the announcement.

“The Reserve Series features incredible tasting wines that radiate the characteristics that made their regions famous. Customers can explore Italy’s delle Venezie region with a light and refreshing Pinot Grigio or visit the Andes Mountains in Mendoza, Argentina with a velvety and full-bodied Malbec,” Walmart VP, Adult Beverage Jason Fremstad said in the post.

The Winemakers Selection Reserve Series are available in Walmart brick-and-mortar locations throughout the country. Moreover, they are available for delivery and grocery pickup “in accordance with local and state regulations,” according to the announcement.

Walmart debuted the Winemakers Selection label to shoppers back in 2018. Since that time, Walmart says it has “continued to identify new ways to bring our customers new and exciting offerings as they explore the collection.” To that end, it “relaunched” the Winemakers Selection Classic Series in 2020, according to the announcement.

In separate beverage industry news, Europe’s wine and spirits sector is about to get a major new digital commerce player.

More specifically, Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits arm of LVMH, and Campari Group, the brand behind labels like SKYY vodka, will be teaming to make a digital commerce platform in a 50/50 joint venture.

Marco Magnocavallo will head up the platform. The aim is to make a platform that will have a presence throughout Europe.

“This partnership represents a significant step forward in our global eCommerce development strategy. While eCommerce was already a growing channel for wines and spirits, the global pandemic has triggered a significant acceleration,” Moët Hennessy President and CEO Philippe Schaus said in an announcement.
