Startup Clubmarket Reportedly Builds Way To Sponsor Clubhouse Sessions

Startup Clubmarket has devised a method to monetize social audio meetings on the Clubhouse social media platform, Venture Beat reported, pointing out that Clubmarket is an “independent startup.”

Co-Founder Tomer Dean told the news outlet via email that the startup is creating a sponsorship marketplace for those who create sessions on Clubhouse.

Each creator will set their own prices. A clubhouse room that is related to technology and has 500 people tuned in could fetch as much as $1,000 to $2,000 for a co-branded sponsorship, Venture Beat reported, citing a forecasting tool on the Clubmarket site.

Clubhouse, which can be accessed just through iOS, has had beta testing status for a year. In recent months, however, it has quickly grown.

Citing App Annie, Venture Beat reported that Clubhouse has experienced nearly 13 million downloads up to now. Nearly 4 million of the downloads are domestic, along with almost 2 million in Japan and nearly 1 million in Germany.

Referring to itself as “a space for casual, drop-in audio conversations,” California-based Clubhouse is the hottest new darling in the changing social media industry. The chat room has $100 million with which to expand its platform, due to an investment from renowned VC firm Andreessen Horowitz.

“Clubhouse could not have come at a better time for social media. It reinvents the category in all the right ways, from the content consumption experience to the way people engage each other, while giving power to its creators,” Andreessen Partner Andrew Chen wrote, referring to Clubhouse being as different as possible from a video clip or brief post as it rewards exploration and conversation.

Those who use Clubhouse venture where social media platforms haven’t gone before. That is, they speak — and listen — to each other. As in, they have a real discussion, with all the nuanced intonations and subtle communications that come with it instead of a brief, single-dimensional, auto-corrected reply.

“#Clubhouse brings the human skill of listening and sequencing conversations,” one user said in a social media post about his recent experience.
