Pizza Hut Will Add ‘Hut Lane’ Drive-Thru At 1,500 Locations

Pizza Hut will now be rolling out a new digital option called “The Hut Lane,” according to a company blog.

The new service is touted as “doubling down on safety and convenience,” as a “dedicated digital order pickup window” to allow customers new options during the pandemic.

Since the pandemic shifted the way people interact with ordering food last year, Pizza Hut has worked in a way for customers to order digitally without leaving their vehicles, the blog says. The Hut Lane will expand on that by offering a new way for customers to use the Pizza Hut app. It lets customers pull up to the window to grab their order and go, the blog says.

And if The Hut Lane is not available at one’s local Pizza Hut, the app will automatically offer the company’s curbside pickup.

The blog says The Hut Lane is part of the company’s “long-term strategy to modernize through digital ordering and improved customer experiences, and many franchise owners seeking an edge on speed and convenience in their local markets will look to utilize this feature.”

In addition, as Flynn Restaurant Group has recently taken ownership of over 900 Pizza Hut restaurants, that company plans to prioritize The Hut Lane going forward.

“As we transition into the Pizza Hut system, we are excited about The Hut Lane and the seamless customer experience it offers,” said Ron Bellamy, chief improvement officer at Flynn Restaurant Group. “We know from our QSR experience how much value a pick-up window can unlock for the business, and we plan to prioritize The Hut Lane in future builds and relocations of existing stores.”

Last year as the pandemic was in full force, cars were a prominent way for people to get out of the house — including things like National Drive Thru Day on July 24, which included promotions like free guacamole at Del Taco.
