These capabilities follow FedEx’s addition of an integrated duty and tax payment function to the FedEx Import Tool, and the company’s expansion of the availability of the tool, according to the release.

Key features of the FedEx Import Tool include import clearance management, real-time shipment and clearance status visibility, proactive notifications to alert importers when action is required, digital submission of customs documentation and information, integrated digital payment options for duties and taxes, and the ability to download clearance documents on demand, the release said.

The FedEx Import Tool is now available in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand, per the release.

Salil Chari, president, Asia Pacific at FedEx, said in the release that the FedEx Import Tool is designed to help businesses navigate customs regulations, documentation requirements and import procedures.

“As these requirements continue to evolve, customers need a simpler and more transparent way to manage import clearance,” Chari said. “The enhanced FedEx Import Tool provides greater visibility and control throughout the import journey, helping businesses navigate cross-border trade with greater confidence.”

FedEx initially launched the FedEx Import Tool in Australia, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan in October 2024, saying it aimed to advanced technology to address the complexities of international trade in the APAC region and make importing simpler and more efficient.

FedEx reported in June that its package volume increased during the quarter ended May 31, in both its U.S. domestic business and its international export business. These gains were only partially offset by the impact of changes in global trade policy, the company said.

FedEx SVP Jason Brenner told PYMNTS in March that while the dominant narrative in logistics has long been speed, leading retailers are moving beyond that.

“The biggest leading retailers talk less about speed at all cost, and they talk more about control, flexibility and optionality,” Brenner said.
