Anachron Automates E-Invoicing For Spanish Government

Governments are catching on: e-procurement and electronic invoicing programs save money and make for a smooth buying process. The success of these programs, studies show, often lead to the private sector adopting the same money-saving strategy.

Spain is one of the latest to boost its federal e-procurement methods. According to an announcement from Netherlands-based e-invoicing service Anachron, the company has now fully integrated its operations into Spain’s federal FACe e-invoicing network.

Anachron revealed Wednesday (Feb. 25) that all of its business customers will now be able to automate the submission of their digital invoices through the FACe portal, which is the first point of entry for all government and department electronic invoices. With Anachron’s integration into the system, suppliers will no longer need to manually submit their invoices on the FACe e-invoicing website, the company said.

According to Anachron Chief Technology Officer Marco Eeman, a seamless integration with Spain’s federal procurement system is crucial for businesses to take full advantage of the benefits of e-invoicing. “Our commitment to interoperability is reflected by our proactive development of roaming network connections such as the one to FACe,” Eeman said, adding that the latest achievement helps the company to further its goal of “being able to deliver invoices at anytime, anywhere and in any electronic format a receiver may require.”

The company noted in its announcement that digital invoicing is mandatory for all government procurement activity through the Spanish Public Administration. Further, all invoices submitted must adhere to certain formatting standards. Anachron meets these requirements to ensure compatibility with Spain’s process, the company said, and all automated invoices will automatically adhere to these guidelines.

Across Europe, federal officials have been pushing for streamlined digital procurement practices. At a conference held last month, EU officials spoke out in favor of the Philippines’ success in e-invoicing within government procurement operations. The objective of the Philippine program, reports said, was to encourage foreign investment in the nation. In response, EU Ambassador to the Philippines Guy Ledoux agreed that the electronic procurement project would surely facilitate investment the nation seeks.
