Looks Like A Merry Online Holiday Shopping Season So Far

Over the pre-Thanksgiving weekend, consumers spent more online this year than last, and are making significantly more of those purchases using mobile devices.

    A report by IBM also notes that while the weekend’s sales were up 18.7% over last year in total value, average order value was down 5.4%.

    The report also indicates that the trend of consumers shifting to mobile devices for purchasing is continuing, jumping from 18% to 26.6% year over year; although many appear to use mobile devices to do their browsing (48.3% of total traffic) but ultimately making their online purchases on a non-mobile devices.

    Average order size was also larger on desktops than on mobile–$123.29 vs. $105.37–and consumers making purchases on Apple devices also outspent Android users by 28.9%.
