This partnership marks the first of its kind between OT and Lenovo and will enable Lenovo to offer secure mobile payment services.
“We are delighted that Lenovo has selected OT to build up a solution for secure and convenient payment and transport services on its new smartphones. Our important local footprint in China is a major asset as well as our ability to provide Lenovo with a comprehensive solution which will help simplify the role and responsibility of each stakeholder providing services for NFC applications,” said Cédric Collomb, managing director of the telecom business unit at OT.
Through this partnership, OT will equip three of Lenovo’s smartphones with the eSE, which will help provide Chinese users with the necessary NFC services by “enhancing their transit and payment experience.” As described by OT, its PEARL multi-application eSE is its most advanced and helps create a more seamless transition toward secure contactless payments and better authentication, along with transit, access and loyalty applications.
OT’s mobile solution will also provide Lenovo with its Key Management system in order to provide easier access to the eSE to partner applications. The partnership will also create a connection to OT’s secure payments hub in China.
“We are pleased to work with OT to expand our service offer for the benefit of our clients in China,” said Jerry Hsiao, vice president of Lenovo. “We are confident in OT’s expertise to deploy safely and efficiently its solution in line with our need for a large multi-scheme certified eSE to expand our users’ experience with our smartphones.”
