Fed Admits Anonymous Breach, But Says No Critical Operations Affected

The Federal Reserve has admitted that one of its internal websites had been infiltrated by the hacktivist group Anonymous, reports Reuters. Anonymous claimed to have possession of the personal account information for 4,000 bank executives on Super Bowl Sunday.

    The Federal Reserve system is aware that information was obtained by exploiting a temporary vulnerability in a website vendor product, a Fed spokeswoman said, adding that “exposure was fixed shortly after discovery and is no longer an issue. This incident did not affect critical operations of the Federal Reserve system.”
