Square Hires Former U.S. Trade Negotiator For Regulatory Role

Square has hired former Acting U.S. Trade Representative Demetrios J. Marantis to head its “international government, regulatory and policy work,” the company announced in a press release yesterday.

    Marantis served in the Obama Cabinet as Deputy U.S. Trade Representative 2009 through March 2013, when he became the department’s acting head officer. Marantis also spent time as Chief International Trade Council for the Senate Finance Committee.
