American Express has launched a new iPhone app in Saudi Arabia to give customers more control over credit card accounts through their mobile phones, reported Wamda. The app was released in both Arabic and English, and Amex customers are able to add more than one credit card to the app. Different accounts can be controlled separately.
Users can use the mobile app to look up account balances, view transaction details, check for offers and discounts, as well as locating nearby ATMs. They can also download and print these statements via personal computers.

Some are questioning if the app will have a wide acceptance in Saudi Arabia. Despite high mobile penetration in the Arab world, many consumers are fearful of online protection. There are a lack of regulations and poor structure to help protect online purchases.
