Report: US, Europe, Japan, Korea Dominate Tablet Market

ABI Research has found that 97 cents out of every $1 in tablet spending – or $70 billion – is spent in North America, Western Europe, Japan or Korea, VentureBeat reports.

    “North America is forecasted to claim nearly half of the estimated $72 billion expected to be spent this year on tablet devices,” Jeff Orr, a senior analyst at ABI, wrote in a statement, according to VentureBeat. “Western Europe and Asia-Pacific will also have their hands in the honey pot for a combined 50 percent of world tablet revenues.”

    Thirty-nine million tablets were shipped in the first quarter of 2013, the second highest in history. Most were sold in developed nations, ABI said.
