Coinbase Raises $25M In Venture Round

In a sign that investment interest in bitcoin is still on the upswing despite the currency’s recent crash, digital wallet service Coinbase has raised $25 million in a funding round, Finextra reported on December 12.

    The round, led by Andreessen Horowitz, adds to the $7 million in seed funding the startup previously raised. Union Square Ventures and Ribbit Capital, two of Coinbase’s existing investors, also participated in the round.

    In a statement to Finextra, Coinbase indicated that it receives an average of 10,000 new customer signups each day. Additionally, more than 16,000 merchants have accounts on the site.
