Considerable venture capital and vendor innovation have gone into seeking more secure alternatives to traditional magnetic-stripe cards. Mobile-based solutions have received a great amount of attention, while network mandates have attempted to push EMV smart card use in the U.S. Could biometrics, combined with one-time use codes, bring mag-stripe cards with much-improved security back into the picture as a viable issuer alternative?
