The intent is to maximize rewards on everyday purchases that are made using the Chase Freedom card, the company said in the release. Chase serves nearly half of American households with personal banking, credit cards, mortgages, auto financing and other financial services.
“We want Chase Freedom cardmembers to kick back, relax and get the most of their summer,” said BJ Mahoney, General Manager of Chase Freedom.
Cardmembers will earn 5 percent cash back for fuel purchases and can also collect fuel rewards using the Chase Pay mobile app by linking their loyalty account and paying at the pump at select Shell stations. App users can reportedly earn up to 35 cents per gallon in fuel savings after their first five-gallon fill-up.
If they’d rather catch a ride than drive themselves, cardholders will be able to earn their rewards by riding with Lyft — they just need to connect their card within the Lyft mobile app. Lyft is currently available to 95 percent of the U.S. population and in Ontario, Canada.
Finally, whether they’re stocking up on sunscreen for a beach day, snacks for a road trip, or notebooks and pencils for back-to-school, Chase will be giving Freedom cardmembers 5 percent back on all Walgreens purchases through the end of September. Walgreens operates 8,100 drugstores across the U.S. and its territories.
