Unveiling the Future of Mobile Financial Services

Happy Anniversary to Mobey Forum! The organization recently celebrated 10 years of supporting mobile financial services, from transactional payments to banking. 

PYMNTS.com asked Karen Webster to speak with Mobey Forum Executive Director Liisa Kanniainen, who is also Vice President at Nordea Bank. In this exclusive NEXTcast interview, they discuss Mobey Forum’s mission, market standardization and challenges with regards to merchant acceptance.

   


Executive Bio: Liisa Kanniainen, Mobey Forum Executive Director

Liisa Kanniainen holds Master of Science degree in International Economics.  After university studies Liisa worked a few years as a polytechnic teacher and acquired also Polytechnic Teacher qualification.

Liisa Kanniainen has worked on mobile financial services for the past 15 years. Liisa has led several pioneering projects during the early days of this industry. First she worked at Digital B.V. in the Netherlands, then the next 6 years in Finland at Nokia Corporation. During her Nokia Mobile Phones years Liisa worked in various management positions in product development. Her last position at Nokia Ventures was Head of R&D, mobile commerce.

In 2001 she changed to Nordea Bank and Mobey Forum in order to full time concentrate on creating the cross-industry collaboration required for making the mobile financial services market as the Mobey Forum Workgroup Executive. In Nordea she has been in charge of mobile financial services on corporate level. In Mobey Forum she carries since Feb 2007 the full operational responsibility of all activities and daily management of the Forum as the Executive Director of the rapidly growing cross-industry consortium.

Liisa Kanniainen is a widely known and knowledgeable industry expert who often contributes to industry conferences as Chairman or Keynote presenter. She has been the editor of several important industry white papers and topical articles, and has chaired the work of several pioneering working groups in the mobile financial services business area.
