Wendy’s To Let Customers Pay With Phones, Too

Wendy’s jumped on the smartphone bandwagon this week, saying most of its stores are ready to accept payments from the devices, according to The Associated Press.

    The chain, with 5,800 U.S. outlets, has been testing its program for a year. The app lets customers tap their phone to get a six-digit number they then tell to or show to the cashier, instead of holding up the device to a scanner.

    This method facilitates drive-in purchases, the company said, according to the report.

    Burger King last week announced that it plans to enable customers to pay for Whoppers using their phones.
