Apple’s Big Announcement: New iPhone 7 Or Something More?

Apple has taken the leap and has announced an invitation-only event on Sept. 7. Invitees can expect a first look at the new iPhone 7 and perhaps other products from Apple.

Apple is trying to create a buzz for its new products expected this year, announcing an invitation-only event on Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco to showcase its new iPhone 7 and perhaps the new Apple Watch 2 and new MacBook Pro.

The new iPhone 7 is expected to have new colors, no headphone jack, a dual cam and updated phone button, according to CNBC. Sales for Apple’s iPhones have been declining, and pundits are wondering if this new iPhone 7 will be enough to motivate consumers to pull out their wallets, mobile or otherwise, in the coming months and into the holiday season.

By the end of Sept. 2015, Consumer Intelligence Research Partners found that 58 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones were in use in the U.S. The iPhone 6 is now two-years-old, but according to BGC’s Colin Gillis: “There is risk that the upgrade rate for the next iPhone may slow even more than the upgrade rate cycle of 6s.”
