Bonifii and Entersekt Offer Biometric Context-Aware Authentication for Credit Unions

Bonifii and Entersekt announced Thursday (April 21) a new biometric security offering aimed at the credit union market.

Using MemberPass Express, the announcement states, a credit union member will be able to authenticate his or her identity using biometrics when completing an eCommerce transaction, visiting a branch, contacting a call center or logging in to online or mobile banking platforms. Members will encounter “a consistent user experience” across channels, the release states. The companies stated the process will take about 10 seconds.

“The joint new solution leverages artificial intelligence to protect members from fraud by analyzing the context (such as identity, behavior, location, device, and channel) of each user journey in real time. This informs the most appropriate member authentication method that will be used, and means that members will now benefit from industry-leading authentication, while enjoying a fast and smooth user experience,” Schalk Nolte, chief executive of Entersekt, said in a prepared statement.

John Ainsworth, president and chief executive of Bonifii, said in a prepared statement: “Leveraging Entersekt’s vast expertise in this space, MemberPass Express provides credit unions with a revolutionary solution for authenticating members’ identities. It will bring members peace of mind when transacting, and offer them a very quick and seamless user experience.”

Denver, Colorado-based Bonifii calls itself “the financial industry’s first verifiable exchange network designed to enable trusted digital transactions using open standards and best-of-breed and security technologies.”

Entersekt has an office in Atlanta, Georgia, an office in London, England, two in Europe and three in Africa.

Authentication plays a key role in the user experience, particularly given the fact that about half of online account holders check their accounts via digital devices once or more daily.
