Amazon Says Its Ready To Assist US With COVID-19 Vaccine Effort

Amazon said it is ready to help with the COVID-19 vaccination efforts of the Biden administration, according to a letter addressed to President Joe Biden from Amazon CEO of Worldwide Consumer Dave Clark obtained by PYMNTS.

“As you begin your work leading the country out of the Covid-19 crisis, Amazon stands ready to assist you in reaching your goal of vaccinating 100 million Americans in the first 100 days of your administration,” Clark wrote in the letter, which was dated Wednesday (Jan. 20).

Clark noted that Amazon’s size “allows us to make a meaningful impact immediately in the fight against COVID-19, and we stand ready to assist you in this effort.”

The executive said Amazon is ready to harness its “operations, information technology and communications capabilities and expertise” to help with the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine work.

Clark also said in the letter that the company has a deal with an occupational health care provider to give vaccines at its facilities.

The letter comes after it was reported that Starbucks will help Washington state with distributing the coronavirus vaccine. Starbucks has assigned 11 staffers with full-time work on distributing the vaccine there. Those individuals have knowledge in labor and deployment, operations and research and development.

Individuals who are assigned to work on distributing the vaccine will harness the coffee company’s digital simulation technology to expedite vaccinations. The aim of the collaboration is to make a formidable vaccine distribution network across the state’s almost 40 counties and 30 tribal nations.

As it stands, a number of Americas are considering whether they will take the vaccine.

“Consumers are more willing to get vaccinated now than in the past, but almost half are still either against or lukewarm about the idea. Our research shows that 51 percent of all consumers now say they are ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ likely to get vaccinated,” according to Mapping Digital-First Consumers’ Return to the Physical World, the newest installment in PYMNTS ‘Pandenomics’ study series.
