Toy and entertainment company Hasbro, Inc., announced Friday (Oct. 22) during Hasbro Pulse Con that it has teamed up with The Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX) for its first non-fungible token (NFT) collection, featuring the Power Rangers, according to an Action Figure Insider report.

The Power Rangers NFT collection is available for a limited time through Hasbro Pulse, whose members will have exclusive access to the NFTs through 4 p.m. before sales open to the general public an hour later.

“We are thrilled to partner with WAX to offer Hasbro’s first-ever NFT collection with the Power Rangers franchise,” said Kwamina Crankson, vice president and general manager at Hasbro Pulse, in the company announcement.

“The WAX platform gives fans an easy entry point into the world of NFTs and digital collectibles,” he said. “Now, fans will have the opportunity to expand their collections with a unique Power Rangers NFT, uniquely transacted through the blockchain that can be redeemed for a special edition Dino Megazord.”

The Hasbro Power Rangers NFT collection will be available through Sunday, while supplies last, and is redeemable for a special-edition Power Rangers collectible figure, the Lightning Collection Zord Ascension Project Special Edition Dino Megazord.

“WAX is the trailblazer in NFT innovation, and we are going big with global play and entertainment company Hasbro to integrate one of their most iconic brands, Power Rangers, into the blockchain ecosystem,” said William Quigley, co-founder of WAX, in the announcement.

Third-quarter sales of NFTs were $10.7 billion, up from $1.3 billion the previous quarter and $1.2 billion in the first quarter of 2021, according to DappRadar data.

Sales of NFTs largely happen across blockchains, although some take place at auction houses including Christie’s and Sotheby’s, which can make tracking sales volume challenging.

DappRadar, which compiles data from several blockchains and includes off-chain transaction data, puts NFT sales volume at $13.2 billion so far in 2021. CryptoSlam data, which doesn’t include off-chain volume, puts 2021 sales at $9.6 billion. NonFungible.com collects data only from the Ethereum blockchain and tallied $7 billion in sales so far this year.
