Mastercard, Amigo Edu, idwall Deliver Digital ID to Virtual Student Exams

Digital Identity, virtual, Student Exams

Mastercard, Amigo Edu and idwall are teaming up to bring digital identification to students taking virtual exams in Brazil, with an eye on transforming the education system for a secure and inclusive testing experience, according to a press release on Thursday (Nov. 11).

The partnership is intended to enable students to easily and safely verify their identities and reduce the complexity and friction that can come from digital processes. With the average person juggling 100 passwords and identity fraud continuing to wreak havoc, the companies are aiming to help address one of the toughest challenges that providers of digital services providers face daily.

“Even as the world has gone digital, proving who we are is often still an analog process. It shouldn’t have to be that way,“ said Ajay Bhalla, president for cyber and intelligence at Mastercard.

“With digital identity, consumers can unlock new and enhanced experiences as they interact with businesses, service providers and their communities — making it safer and more efficient to shop online, open a bank account, file taxes or book travel,” Bhalla added.

To use the system, students create their digital ID in the idwall app, which in turn proves their identity for test taking, such as the University Admission Exams and others through the Amigo Edu platform. Mastercard provides an API integration to link the ID network and facilitate the sharing of the verified credentials.

Once verified, students can use their digital IDs in other areas of their academic life in addition to using the verified ID for other things, such as opening a bank account or renting a car.

“With this partnership, we accelerate our ambition to create a global digital identity for Latin America. This will create a new way for companies to implement digital identity and provide more privacy and security for users’ personal identity data,” said Lincoln Ando, CEO of idwall.

José Roberto Dantas, CEO of Amigo Edu, said that by pooling technologies, capabilities and resources, the three companies together are “providing safe and easy solutions for students and the wider education sector in Brazil.”
