Latest Provider Ranking of Shopping Apps Shows Holiday Kickoff In Motion

Keep those smartphones sitting on an icepack lest they overheat in the massive holiday shopping blitz that’s kicking off big time right about now. It’ll be something to see.

With retail prognosticators calling for a booming season that will make the 2020 COVID Christmas pale in comparison, whole industries are hoping for major holiday action.

Much of that will take place in and through apps, which brings us to the latest edition of PYMNTS Provider Ranking of Shopping Apps. For a ranking that starts out as expected, we frankly weren’t prepared for a few of the surprises after the numbers were crunched.

See what you think.

The Top 5

That wonder of shopping apps, SHEIN, continues its uninterrupted reign at No. 1.

Amazon at No. 2 remains in hot pursuit. The SHEIN thing must keep them up nights.

No wallflower at No. 3 and holding it’s the Walmart app.

The AliExpress Shopping App keeps its spot at No. 4 yet again, so no change there.

As we kind of predicted last time we all met up here, Nike rises a spot to reenter the Top 5 at No. 5. What can you say? They swooshed ahead and just did it. Welcome back to the Top 5.

The Top 10

A solid gainer at No. 6 this cycle is eBay, up two spots.

Meanwhile, the Alibaba.com app tumbles two spots and out of the Top 5 to No. 7.

Also losing altitude since last cycle is the Fetch Rewards app, down one spot to No. 8.

Now comes the rarely seen four-way tie, and it’s all happening at No. 9. At this suddenly sought-after chart position we have the IKEA app (already there), now joined by the Etsy app (down one spot), the Poshmark app (returning after an absence) and now one we’ve been expecting for some time, that being the Target app making its debut.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this.

As they say, last but not least, it’s the Joom app, rejoining the rankings after an absence.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. The holidays are here. Download and proceed.
