Barclaycard’s presence in the U.S. credit card market for now may be small, but big things are in store for the company in 2011. They’re the first issuer to participate in the ISIS mCommerce venture by AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Barclaycard US is also looking to leverage the benefits of new regulatory legislation.

    Bio: Amer Sajed serves as Chief Executive Officer for Barclaycard US, the payments business of Barclays in the United States, where he is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the business. He also serves as Global Card Products Lead where he oversees a global team with the objective of helping Barclaycard businesses across Europe, Africa and Asia with best practices in various disciplines such as analytics, marketing and risk.

    Amer joined Barclaycard in August of 2006. Before assuming the US post, he was Chief Executive Officer for UK Cards at Barclaycard. He also led the Barclaycard Business and International unit which provides payment services to businesses and corporations.

    Before coming to Barclaycard, he worked at Citigroup for 20 years in various roles – most recently overseeing the Travel & Affluent Segment.

    He also managed the Student Cards business and the Rewards business there. He holds a master’s degree in business from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College.
