Atos Wordline Introduces New Payment Experience

Atos Wordline has gone further than mobile and contactless payments and is pioneering payments with a touch of your skin. This new technology revolutionizes the way a wide range of digital services and payments are handled. No cards, no cheques, no cash is needed, just a touch. The transaction is initiated via your skin, providing secure user authentication.

Director of innovation at Atos Wordline, Denis Faivre commented: “Our participation in this revolutionary project is a reflection of Atos Worldline continued innovation leadership and demonstrates its capacity to bring cutting-edge ideas to reality. We use our expertise in the payment sector to optimize all security and transactional aspects in the eGo solution. eGo compliant objects will recognize your credentials at a touch. Nothing can be more natural and simple as a way to interact, and it will simplify the user experience when accessing a host of digital servicesOur company is committed to best-in-class research so we can offer our customers and end-users a wide range of easy, secure and fast payment tools.”

Similarly to Natural Security’s biometric payment solution, the eGo requires that the user needs to have some kind of card or chip inside an object that will be linked to the customer. Acting like a multi-service enabler containing numerous applications, after user authentication, the wearable eGo device communicates with eGo-compliant objects via a single touch. Credentials are passed on securely, and the desired electronic transaction completed seamlessly.

The technology was in display at CARTES 2012 and can be used not only for payments but also for other services such as access or storage of information. eGo is part of the recent EUREKA programme CATRENE (Cluster for Application and Technology Research in Europe on NanoElectronics), lead by Gemalto. The aim of the program is to deliver nano-/microelectronics solutions that respond to the needs of society at large, improving the economic prosperity of Europe and reinforcing the ability of its industry to be at the forefront of the global competition.
