Barclays’ Update to Pingit Represents Next Step in Mobile P2P

While many companies continue to work on an initial implementation of P2P mobile money transfer, Barclays is pushing version 2.0 of its own application.

This week, the bank released a new update of Pingit, its mobile banking app for smartphones, responding to a host of consumer concerns about missing features or sources of friction.

New capabilities include the option to add multiple phone numbers (which can be used to facilitate funds transfers), and an enhanced transactions view for consumers, as well as the removal of a volume cap that had been affecting business customers.

Three months after debuting in the UK App Store, Barclays Pingit had been downloaded 500,000 times as of last week, according to Finextra.
