MasterCard Wants Commuters Better Rested and Less Angry

Closed-loop systems are causing unnecessary frustration for commuters who use mass transit every day. MasterCard Senior Vice President Catherine Murchie says there’s a better way, and explains how we can get there soon.

Catherine Murchie is Senior Vice President, Global PayPass Solutions. In this role, Ms. Murchie leads worldwide product management and development of PayPass, the MasterCard contactless payment solution and global transit solutions. She defines the PayPass and transit go-to-market strategy with MasterCard issuers, merchants and vendors, oversees trial programs and market roll-outs globally, drives new product innovation, product commercialization, growth and optimization, and product assurance.

Ms. Murchie has been with MasterCard since 1998. During her tenure at the company, she has help positions of increasing levels of responsibility across the organization and within the Global PayPass Solutions team. Most recently, she was the global head of Transit Solutions and prior to that led the Global PayPass Solutions team for Europe. Ms Murchie was a founding member of The Mobile Payment Forum, a cross-industry consortium dedicated to the development of industry standards for mobile payments. She also served on the Board of Directors.
