Through Instagram Announcement, Chirpify Gets Twitter Buzzing

Here are our top five tweets from the week that was. Keep tweeting, and we may feature you next Friday.

@JMotte30: Hey @Jack – Got this @Egraphs for you. Thanks for being a Cards fan even in SF. Go @Cardinals! goo.gl/FpW6S

The coolest tweet of the week comes from St. Louis Cardinals closer Jason Motte, who tweeted Twitter founder Jack Dorsey a personalized electronic autograph for repping the Cardinal Red even while living in California. Motte and his Cards have since been bounced from the playoffs by the San Francisco Giants, so the Bay Area may get the last laugh, but this was a cool gesture by Mr. Motte nonetheless. @mikedmerrill: This is interesting – Chirpify, not Facebook, swoops in to help brands sells on Instagram bakn.me/QZo7Yv

This caught our eye too, and we interviewed Chirpify’s CEO, Chris Teso, to learn about his bold claim that Chirpify is “the only company doing social commerce.” If you want to see how excited people are about being able to buy in-stream from an Instragram listing, just search “Chirpify” on Twitter: people are going nuts for it.

@WSJ: Zynga’s move to cut 5% of its workforce Tuesday sparked a sharp reaction in the Twittersphere. on.wsj.com/SpaZgW

Zynga’s decision to cut 100 works from its Boston and Austin, Texas offices did not sit well with people, and The Wall Street Journal has compiled an interesting list of tweets. Many are amusing, but just about all take Zynga to task for reportedly giving employees just two hours to clean out their desks, as well as timing their firing to coincide with Apple’s product event in order to avoid the headlines. Given their Q3 returns and the sloppy way they handled this, Zynga would indeed probably be wise to stay out of the limelight for a while.

@Gemalto_NA: Exciting that it’s here! RT @Pymnts No More Delays: #Isis Launches Test Pilot bit.ly/TQtXfF

We’re excited too: mostly because we can stop writing about Isis’ delays! But seriously, it is good to see Isis get off the ground, and their pilot will be of plenty of interest in the industry. Of course, given that it’s currently only available in Salt Lake City, UT and Austin, TX, we won’t learn a ton either way, but it’d be nice to see an NFC-based mobile wallet experience some success.
