ATM Heisters Arrested In New York City

A global cybercrime effort was disrupted this week when authorities arrested six individuals connected to a string of worldwide ATM thefts resulting in the loss of $45 million, Reuters reported on November 18.

Two Middle East-based banks were affected by the organization, which targeted ATMs all around the world. In New York City alone, more than $2.8 million were fraudulently withdrawn.

Five men and one woman, all of whom live in Yonkers, were identified by the U.S. attorney’s office as the individuals who made the ATM withdrawals.
