Government Shutdown Fails To Dissuade Holiday Shoppers

A new Gallup poll shows that, despite the economic impact of the government shutdown this month, holiday shoppers will spend as much this year as they did in 2012, Moneynews reports.

Americans will spend an average of $786, according to the Gallup poll. Roughly ninety percent of respondents plan on making purchases for the holidays, and the numbers suggest a 3-4 percent spending increase over last year’s number by the end of the season.
