MasterCard Develops Chip Tech And Local Apps For Nigerian ID Card

MasterCard announced it is working on developing chip technology for the Nigerian national ID card program, reported HumanIPO. MasterCard also said it is creating about 13 local apps that are designed to help support local companies and improve financial inclusion.

“MasterCard is very excited about this project and we would do everything to ensure its success,” said Omoke Ojomuyide, VP of business development at MasterCard West Africa. “Already, I can confidently tell you that the Nigeria identity scheme is the largest financial inclusion project anywhere in Africa and we would be glad to ensure its success.”
