UK Prisoners Get Paid With SecureTrading

SecureTrading, an independent payment processor in the UK, announced a new contract to serve as the payment gateway for Prison Technology Services. The platform will facilitate money transfers and emails to prisoninmates, reported Finextra. Family and friends will be able to contact prisoners with the service, dubbed “Email A Prisoner.”

Prison running costs will decrease since the email services will allow users to send computer emails for less than it costs to buy a second-class stamp. SecureTrading will also include Secure Payment Services, which allows inmates to receive ePayments. This service will also save money as it eradicates the need for checks, postal orders and cash.

The Prison Technology Services will be free of charge to prisons in addition to other facilities, including detention and immigration removal centers.
