Zynga Bets On Social Casinos With Acquisition

Zynga has purchased Spooky Cool Labs, a 40-person social games maker known for games like “The Wizard of Oz,” TechCrunch reports.

    With the acquisition, Zynga receives a number of professionals with experience in socalsocial and real-money gaming. Observers say Zynga, which executed a high-profile round of layoffs earlier this month, is looking to casino gaming to help it recapture favor with investors and consumers.

    Spooky Cool Labs will stay in its Chicago office, and work with Zynga’s social casino gaming team in San Francisco.
