Bank of Mexico and UNAM presented the report “Financial Cuture of Mexican Youth”. The researches held ten focus groups in five cities and 3.2k surveys of Mexicans aged between 15 and 29. Finding shows only 22% of them control their budget while 61% hasn’t thought about retirement. Surprisingly, 96% doesn’t request info about financial products. 56% don’t have savings capacity, while only 11% does so in banks.
Dr. José Navarro Robles said: “It’s the first time that a survey of this kind on youth is carried in Mexico and LatAm. We’re proud to have taken this first step and we know that, with the results, we can develop necessary tools to improve youth financial education and thus contribute with our country’s growth”.
