PayPal cited the need to focus on global growth strategies in a Feb. 13 press release. It also announced plans for how StackMob’s existing customers can retrieve data before the full closure of the service.

“Today, we are announcing the end of StackMob Backend-as-a-Service, shutting down the StackMob brand, and focusing our team and resources on making PayPal the best global payments platform in the world. We are so thankful for your support of StackMob,” the company said.

StackMob will close for good on May 11.
