Shell Oil Chooses To Integrate NCR’s Radiant POS Solutions

Shell Oil Co. announced May 7 that it selected NCR Corp.’s Radiant Point of Sale (RPOS) petroleum and convenience solutions as a new option for Shell Branded Wholesalers.

Consumers have numerous options when it comes to fueling and convenience, and NCR is excited to work with Shell in creating an improved customer experience, Eric Stecker, NCR Retail vice president and general manager of petroleum and convenience said in the deal announcement.

“We can now offer Shell-branded wholesalers the RPOS solution, allowing them to add mobile, tablet, cloud, and food-service solutions that can dramatically reduce wait times, increase customer satisfaction and increase efficiency of operations,” Stecker said.

The NCR RPOS solution simplifies remote management, has an improved uptime and reduces the total cost of ownership, NCR says. Specifically, the system has a streamlined on-boarding process for new employees and it allows software updates to be made remotely from central office locations, which means that a site does not need to be shut down when changes take place.

NCR isn’t alone in working to improve payment acceptance at petroleum merchants. On April 29, VeriFone and First Data Corp. launched a VeriFone version of First Data’s TransArmor solution to help such locations improve their transaction security.
