WeChat Launches In-App Commerce

Road signs could soon warn, “no shopping while driving” as mobile messaging app WeChat launches an in-app mobile shopping store with Yoox.com for its 400 million users.

The partnership will not only provide users with a new mobile shopping tool, but also real-time customer support using WeChat’s messaging platform.

As part of the partnership, all WeChat users will have access to a Yoox account that would let them get personal shopping advice and access to exclusive shopping events such as new arrivals, early access to products and customized curated trend galleries, according to trutower.com.

Yoox.com’s WeChat account would also include a fun “Shake Your Style” app, which would let users revamp their friends’ dressing style by shaking their phones for suggesting new looks on other social media platforms.

The new features would be accessible on iOS, Android and Window-based phones by adding Yoox.com as a friend on WeChat. Then, users follow the account and tap “messages” to get started, according to the website.

Online shopping is yet another service WeChat is extending to its users after providing several other options like booking cabs.
