New Wallet’s Tracking App Connects With Apple Watch

Consumer products company New Wallet has launched a tracking app for the Apple Watch which alerts the user if their keys or wallet are left behind.

New Wallet unveiled details behind the Bluetooth- and mapping technology powered product in a press release yesterday (May 4), deeming it “the first-ever solution to include a smart watch, phone, organized wallet and key tracker [which] eliminates wasting time looking for the items [consumers] use the most.” The app connects the phone, watch, wallet and keys, and sounds an alarm should any of those items gets left behind.

Initially available through KickStarter, with a goal of raising $25,000 by May 21, the New Wallet case is available for the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 6, and has integrated tracking technology. As of Monday, May 4, the project boasted 159 backers and a fundraising total of roughly $15K.

“If anyone is going to make smartwatches a must-have wearable accessory, it’s Apple,” New Wallet CEO Karen Crawford said in the press release. “Our New Wallet tracking app will be one more way for people to find the things they carry, and sometimes misplace, the most – their wallet, phones and keys.”

In a similar vein, the Woolet smart wallet, developed by Woolet.co, alerts a consumer when they leave their wallet behind. That product operates via embedded beacons, which set off the user’s phone as soon as the smart wallet falls outside of a specified range between 20 to 85 feet.
