PayU Snags CEO From PayPal (Europe)

PayU, a global payment services platform, has announced its new CEO.

The company announced that Laurent Le Moal will take over as its new chief executive for the company that has operations in 16 countries. PayU is part of the global media and Internet group Naspers. Le Moal comes to PayPal following an 11-year career as a VP of PayPal in its European division that covers Continental Europe, Russia, Middle-East and Africa.

In the release about the new appointment, it specifically pointed Le Moal’s ability to lead the “growth of its consumer franchise across diverse global geographies” during his tenure at PayPal. Le Moal will also join Naspers team to lead its payments business.

“Laurent’s impressive entrepreneurial and business development experience leading multiple teams in diverse global markets is a perfect fit for Naspers and PayU. His understanding of digital payments in markets with long-term growth potential is a great asset to the PayU team and we are delighted to welcome him to the Group,” said Naspers Group CEO Bob van Dijk.

Le Moal also shared his thoughts on joining the PayU team: “I have always been impressed with the PayU team and its track record in addressing the opportunities and challenges in the global and local digital payments sectors. I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue to position PayU as an industry leader in markets across the globe.”
