In an undated note from Team Ascend posted on Ascend’s website, the team said the company is winding down as the team prepares for “our next great adventure.”
The note said that over the past 10 years, Ascend introduced declarative data pipeline technology; launched a unified platform that brought together ingest, transform and orchestration; invented DataAware automation; and pioneered Agentic Data Engineering that enables agents to work alongside teams throughout the data engineering lifecycle.
Ascend’s LinkedIn profile said: “Ascend.io is on a mission to make data engineering delightful. Ascend’s Agentic Data Engineering Platform empowers data teams to build, automate and optimize data pipelines with ease. Combining a powerful metadata core, advanced automation and integrated AI agents, Ascend eliminates engineering toil, enabling teams to focus on innovation and delivering data faster than ever before.”
The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Scaling Enterprise AI: Why Organizational Readiness Now Determines ROI” found in April that the main adoption barriers to enterprise AI are the data, systems and internal structures needed to put it to work at scale.
Just 15% of senior technology executives said their data environments are mostly integrated, while 63% said data quality is the most common obstacle, and 71% said their own organization limits their AI performance more than the technology does, according to the report.
When SAP and Databricks announced in February 2025 that they partnered to make it easier for customers to unify all their data by combining their SAP data with the rest of their enterprise data, Databricks Co-Founder and CEO Ali Ghodsi said in a press release: “Every organization is searching for a faster, more reliable way to translate their data into strategic advantage.”
