In terms of downloads, Muse outpaced OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude and SpaceXSI’s Grok, which each needed more than 100 days to reach 10 million downloads, Sensor Tower Vice President of Insights Seema M. Shah told Bloomberg in a video shared in the post.

In addition, the other AI assistants were launched globally, while Muse is available only in the U.S. and Canada, Shah said.

“Now, ChatGPT was when AI was more nascent and less in the zeitgeist, but still, it just shows how fast the adoption has been” Shah said.

Shah added later: “There’s been a huge interest in Muse and these personal agents versus the direct chatbots.”

Muse’s retention rate after 14 days was 23% in the U.S., a figure that was higher than the 17% Anthropic’s Claude had when it was launched, according to Sensor Tower’s post.

“So, [Muse] is being retained at a higher rate than the other AI apps, but the question is going to be, going forward, ‘How are the active users? What is the engagement level?’” Shah said in the video. “It’s still pretty early to say. We do know that Muse has about 2 million active users in the U.S. Again, to put it in perspective, ChatGPT is at 55 million, so there’s still a huge spread.”

Meta launched Muse in the U.S. on Sept. 8, describing it as a personal AI agent that is designed to be simple to use and “built for everyone.”

Muse reached the No. 1 spot on Apple’s App Store ranking 10 days later, passing ChatGPT to get there.

PYMNTS reported Sept. 23 that Muse had taken Silicon Valley and Wall Street by surprise, as it reached the top of the App Store charts while Meta’s earlier AI apps had never managed that feat.

Reuters reported Oct. 6 that a Citi analysis argued that Muse is serving as the “front door to the internet” and could generate revenues of more than $27 billion by 2030.
