DoorDash and Tractor Supply Partner on Delivery to Farms and Ranches

DoorDash

DoorDash and Tractor Supply have partnered to offer on-demand delivery from the rural lifestyle retailer’s 2,000 locations nationwide.

The partnership marks DoorDash’s first entry into the farm and ranch category and enables Tractor Supply to send its home improvement tools, firewood, poultry feed and other products for the home, farm or ranch to customers on demand, the companies said Friday (Oct. 28) in a press release.

Thousands of Tractor Supply products are now available on the DoorDash marketplace so that consumers can buy them directly on the DoorDash app, according to the release.

In addition, participating Tractor Supply stores will be available on DoorDash’s membership program, DashPass, so that members can get reduced fees on eligible orders from these locations as well as the restaurants, grocery and convenience stores that the delivery company already serves, the release stated.

As PYMNTS reported Sept. 16, DoorDash has been adding nonfood partners as it aims to become a more central part of consumers’ lives, driving on-demand delivery outside of just meal occasions.

As part of this effort, the aggregator recently partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods and Big Lots and will deliver items from 700 of the sporting goods retailer’s stores and 1,400 of the closeout company’s locations.

DoorDash CEO Tony Xu told analysts on an August call: “The greatest privilege that we have in this business is that people eat 20 to 25 times a week, and they shop even more times than that on top of that when you consider their nonfood spend.”

The aggregator’s latest partner, Tractor Supply, reported Oct. 20 that it had earned its 10th consecutive quarter of sales growth by meeting what it said was consumer demand for “everyday, needs-based merchandise.”

According to its results, year over year, the retailer’s net sales for the third quarter rose 8.4% and its comparable store sales climbed 5.7%.
