American Express Canada Cardmembers Can Use Points At Amazon

American Express Canada announced on Monday (Oct. 3) that Canadian cardmembers enrolled in the membership rewards program can now pay for purchases in part or in full with their points accumulated on Amazon.ca.

“This partnership marks an evolution of our Membership Rewards program. We know our Cardmember preferences range from travel to entertainment to retail, and we strive to develop innovative benefits to suit their needs,” said Laura Scheck, director of consumer cards and loyalty for American Express Canada, in a press release announcing the new feature. “This new benefit is not only simple to use but provides Cardmembers with the choice and flexibility to use their points for what they want.”

According to American Express Canada, cardmembers can use the new payment option at checkout to purchase items such as books, video games and more. Cardmembers also have the option to use their points for a variety of rewards from the membership rewards program across popular categories, including travel, dining and entertainment, retail and charities.

“We’re excited to offer our Cardmembers even more freedom and flexibility to redeem their points,” added Scheck in the press release. “The Membership Rewards program is all about offering our Cardmembers freedom, choice and value, and the partnership with Amazon.ca is just one more way we’re doing just that.”

In order to take advantage of the American Express Canada membership rewards program and the new feature, cardmembers need to complete a one-time registration to securely link their membership rewards account to their Amazon.ca account. By visiting Amazon.ca/membershiprewards, cardmembers will be prompted to log in with an existing Amazon.ca account or create a new one. They must then follow the instructions to link their Membership Rewards account to their Amazon.ca account. Membership Rewards points are available immediately for use on Amazon.ca any time cardmembers are shopping.
