Sezzle Partners With Sensepass on Tap-to-Pay Offering

Buy now, pay later (BNPL) firm Sezzle has launched a partnership with Sensepass, maker of “The Wallet of Wallets,” to tap into continued consumer interest in contactless payments.

Through the partnership, shoppers can make payments via the Sensepass hub, which accepts card payments, platforms like Venmo and Coinbase, and now, Sezzle, the companies said in a news release Thursday (Nov. 10).

With the partnership, Sezzle users can tap their phones on Sensepass-enabled devices and choose Sezzle as a payment option.

“Even with today’s tech, it’s a game of chance for shoppers when they reach the register, unsure of which payment methods the retailer will accept,” said Sensepass CEO Moty Arcuschin. “Sensepass tears the wall down between digital payments and wide-spread accessibility.”

Contactless payment methods such as mobile wallets for purchases at the point of sale (POS) have held onto the popularity they acquired during the pandemic, PYMNTS noted recently.

Our research found that bill pay is the most widely used mobile wallet feature, with 50% of consumers using mobile wallets to pay bills in the last year. Consumers use bill pay an average of six to seven days a month, and 51% call it an extremely important feature of mobile wallets.

Meanwhile, 75% of consumers use mobile wallets for speed and convenience, with half of those surveyed citing that as the chief reason to use mobile wallets for bill pay. Sixty-two percent are very or extremely satisfied with using mobile wallets as a bill-pay method.

The Sezzle/Sensepass partnership comes one day after Sezzle announced a collaboration with payment gateway Bankful to let Bankful’s merchants offer their customers the option of paying for purchases in monthly installments.

Once known as Pinwheel, Bankful integrates with major eCommerce platforms such as Shopify, Square, Wix and WooCommerce to simplify transactions. The company said the partnership with Sezzle will expand its capabilities.
