Swedish social payments company and MPOS provider iZettle announced that it will now offer its iOS and Android services in the Mexican market, according to a press release. Mexican merchants are currently being served by recently launched startup Clip, but Square has not yet entered the country.
“This is the start of big change for Mexico, where accepting card payments has never before been an affordable option for new or small businesses,” Jacob de Geer, the iZettle’s CEO, said in a statement.
The move marks the first time iZettle has opened in a market outside of Europe, and comes on the heels of more than $6 million in new funding.
