American Express Introduces New Promotions To Kick Off 2021

American Express is debuting new promotions for American consumer, small business and co-brand card members in addition to small retailers to start 2021 amid the pandemic. The promotions offer support to navigate through COVID-19’s impact and plan for the future, according to a Tuesday (Jan. 5) announcement.

Qualified U.S. consumer platinum card members will get “even more value” through eCommerce via new promotions available up to June 30, 2021, according to the announcement. In one case, consumer platinum card members can get statement credits with PayPal.

Moreover, eligible consumer platinum card members who were cardholders as of Nov. 1, 2020 can receive statement credits after they enroll in Amex Offers with chosen retailers that include Instacart, HomeDepot.com and BestBuy.com, among others.

American Express also says it has new promotions for lodging, flights and car rentals when card members are ready to travel — “whether it’s for a staycation or nearby getaway,” according to the announcement. Promotions include a free night or property credit.

And, in the weeks to come, American Express and the company’s co-brand partners will be debuting new limited-time promotions for current individual and company Delta SkyMiles®, Hilton Honors® and Marriott Bonvoy™ card members with details to arrive in the near future.

“As we start a new year, we’re continuing to find ways to elevate our Membership experience by adding new value to help our Card Members and small merchants make the most of their time spent at home, plan for the future, and help small businesses get back to business,” American Express Executive Vice President, Global Premium Products and Benefits Rachel Stocks said in the announcement.

In September, American Express rolled out a co-branded card with Amazon, targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Britain. “The cards offer a host of rich rewards and payment flexibility designed to help businesses better manage their cash flow,” according to an announcement at the time.
