Shopify Offers Shop Pay to Enterprise Retailers as Standalone Component

Shopify has made its Shop Pay checkout available to enterprise retailers as a standalone component.

With this offering, enterprise retailers that are not on Shopify can use Shop Pay without having to replace all of their existing commerce infrastructure, the company said in a Wednesday (June 21) press release.

Retailers with online stores that implement this offering can deliver one-click checkout to shoppers who have a Shop Pay account, according to the release. When shoppers with an account visit the store, Shopify recognizes them and can pre-fill all their information.

“This is critical optionality in a hyper-competitive retail environment,” Shopify Vice President Product and Chief Operating Officer Kaz Nejatian said in the release. “In an economy where big brands are competing more fiercely than ever to acquire customers, they need to pick and choose what they need to boost the top line, without the compromise of a complete platform overhaul.”

A satisfying checkout experience influences most shoppers’ decisions on whether to purchase again from the merchant, according to PYMNTS research.

Seventy-six percent of loyal customers, 64% of persuadable customers and 63% of deal-chasers said that a positive checkout journey has a high impact on their future shopping decisions, according to “At the Checkout: Deal-Chasers Versus Loyal Customers,” a PYMNTS and checkout.com collaboration.

More than 100 million shoppers currently use Shop Pay, according to the Shopify press release.

This new option to use Shop Pay is the latest addition to Commerce Components by Shopify (CCS), a program that gives enterprise retailers access to Shopify components and lets them select only the ones they need, per the release.

It is now available to enterprises based in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, according to the release.

Shopify also announced in the release that it has expanded its partnership with FinTech platform Adyen to offer a payment gateway integration designed specifically for enterprise retailers. This integration, which is expected to be launched later this year, will allow enterprises to accept a wide variety of payments in markets around the world.

These announcements come about three weeks after Shopify added a new rewards program for users of Shop Pay in the U.S.

With the new Shop Cash program, customers making eligible purchases get 1% back in rewards that can be redeemed in Shopify’s Shop app.
