Contactless Payments Come to Huawei Smartphones Following Curve Partnership

Huawei

Huawei is collaborating with Curve to deliver near-field communication (NFC) contactless payments to Huawei smartphones, including the P50 Series, according to a press release emailed to PYMNTS on Tuesday (Jan. 25).

A financial super app, Curve integrates users’ debit, credit and loyalty cards seamlessly into one smart card. Curve Pay’s partnership with Huawei will enable its smartphone customers to pay by phone through one digital wallet.

The Huawei P50 series is the most recent smartphone to get the added NFC technology perks that Curve and Curve Pay brings. Curve Pay will also work with Nova 9 and other HMS Smartphones in Europe.

Curve Pay users also have cashback options, full spending transparency and insights, plus budget and control settings, all available in numerous currencies. Huawei customers can access fair exchange rates with no hidden fees.

Unlike other mobile wallets, Huawei users can transfer past payments from one account to another through Curve’s Go Back In Time feature. The Curve app also has an “anti-embarrassment” feature that switches cards if the selected card is declined.

The partnership between Curve and Huawei aligns with both companies’ goals of delivering mobile payment capabilities to more people in 2022 and beyond. Curve Pay is another addition to the building out of the Huawei Mobile ecosystem of apps.

“We’re on a mission to simplify people’s financial lives, and launching Curve Pay for Huawei customers allows us to help even more people, across Europe, do just that. Everybody should be able to access smart payment solutions, and we’re proud to support more people with contactless payments, rewards and ultimately, simplicity and convenience,” said Shachar Bialick, founder and CEO of Curve.

New Curve and Huawei users in Europe can get 1% cashback for 30 days and 5% cashback on Huawei’s online store purchases in the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and the U.K.

“Huawei users can now pay by phone, it’s as simple as that. We now have a proven, easy to use and highly functional mobile payment solution, which is bank and card agnostic, making it ideal for our consumers, dispersed in so many different countries in Europe,” said Jervis Su, vice president of mobile services at Huawei Consumer Business Group.
